I grew up in Watford and Croxley Green, the oldest of three sisters. I knew the facts of the Christian faith, but I remember aged 14 praying ‘Jesus, I need to feel you, where are you?’, and I had an experience of God and an emotion that said ‘I am with you, I feel your pain from the past’, which brought peace and a letting go in my life to Jesus.
After having my first child, I was helping other young mums, homeless guys, alpha, and I met someone volunteering with the Street Angels. All these linked together and I joined in 2005, with a knowledge that God wanted me out there on the streets.
I now work in schools, and worship at King’s Church Amersham, which I love because of their care for the community. I have spent time at other churches, and love that all are welcome to join the Chaplaincy, with the understanding of knowing Jesus as our Saviour. The Chaplaincy and particularly the Street Angels are adapting as far fewer people come out late evening, so we need to be at events and places where people are - that’s where Jesus would be.
