What is Chaplaincy?
	"Providing a listening ear and building bridges of understanding and trust between work, faith, leisure and society." What is a Chaplain? A person who interacts with people for their emotional and spiritual well being. A chaplain's visits are organised with the agreement of the management and staff. A chaplain remains independent of the company he or she visits. A chaplain, as a representative of a local faith community, acts as a bridge builder with the work place. The Chaplaincy service is open to all without discrimination and is confidential. Confidentiality covers all aspects of a chaplain's work, including individual conversations and information about the company. Chaplains are motivated by the faith of the tradition from which they come to care for people and communities. They are not there to preach but to offer care and comfort and a listening ear. The Chaplaincy is not a formal counselling service and should be regarded as complementing existing provisions and services. The Team The chaplains in the team come from different Churches, and the team comprises both ordained and lay members.  We visit companies, department stores, theatres, shopping malls, night clubs, banks, the civic centre and other locations within the town centre as required. The Work Place If we are employed or self employed, we spend the greater part of our day at work and often we take work home, if only in our heads. The work we do shapes our lives, develops us as human beings and in it we need to find human value and belonging. Sometimes the pressure and stress make work feel oppressive and this needs to be resolved. Availability The Watford Town Centre Chaplaincy team is available to visit people in the work place within the town centre of Watford.  This can be done by approaching any member of the team or by formal appointments arranged privately, or through your company.
