Message from Richard.

Text Box: “The darkness of winter is upon us – what a joy it is, then, to prepare to celebrate the coming of Jesus, the light of the world.  There is plenty to become involved with this Christmas time in order to share the good news of God’s love with the people of our town.  Christmas Wrap rotas are filling up steadily – make sure you’ve booked your slot, and Eden will be opening for the Saturdays in December to give shoppers a space to consider what this season is all about.  May Advent be a time of reflection for you so that you can celebrate with a glad and peace-filled heart the gift of Emmanuel, God is with us.   Blessings to you!  Richard”

The  Centre was officially opened by Michael Stevens, the General Manager of the Harlequin Centre, on Thursday 16th October.  This was a great evening of thanksgiving, and guests could see at first hand the beautiful and peaceful surroundings that have been crafted by Michael Campbell and a team of helpers.  Visitors can add their messages to a “prayer curtain” in the reflection zone, draw, sketch or write in the creative zone or simply chill-out on one of the large sofas.  Response from the public about Eden has been extremely encouraging and many visitors tell us they will definitely be coming back again and telling their friends about the place. Comments like ‘It is really peaceful here’, ‘What a brilliant idea’, ‘I don’t know what it is, but there is something special about this place!’ confirm that God is in the House and people are walking into his living presence when they step into Eden!

We will be looking to extend our opening hours to include Sundays next year.  If you haven’t visited yet, come and find us in Charter Place, opposite the side of BHS.  Weds-Friday 10am to 4.30pm.  To make the most of this opportunity to bring God’s presence to people in town, we do need more volunteers, so if you’d like to partner with God in this exciting work, then please contact the office.

We have new YOUTH CHAPLAINS!  Pictured here, left to right, are Andy, Dave (existing), Chris and David.  They will be out on the streets engaging with young people under the leadership of Karen Thompson and we are looking forward to hearing their stories.

Christmas Tree Lighting will be in St. Mary’s Square, at 6pm on Thursday 26th November followed by Carol Service in St. Mary’s Church.

Text Box: Christmas Wrap will take place in the Harlequin centre Monday 14th December to Friday 18th December, from 3pm until 9pm.  Thanks to those who attended the Preparation Evening in November.  The rotas are filling up steadily so if you’ve wrapped before and want to do it again, please contact the office asap.  This is such a fun way to engage with people, and to bring the Christmas message alive.
